Since 2021, top engineers from around the country have been working on three concrete masonry prototype designs to provide structural guidance for designers seeking to add code-required tornado storm shelters to new educational construction projects. Darrell McMillian details the process, the decisions and challenges the task force faced while creating these prototypes.
