This seminar explores the evolving concept of delegated design in masonry construction. Participants will learn how transferring certain design responsibilities from engineers to qualified masonry designers can lead to more efficient, cost-effective, and constructible masonry systems. Drawing comparisons to the cold-formed metal framing industry, the session highlights benefits, responsibilities, and performance criteria critical to successful delegated design. Emphasis will be placed on collaboration between the Engineer of Record, Delegate Engineer, and contractor, as well as overcoming resistance to change. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how this model supports quality, innovation, and industry advancement.
